Grace of God compared to sun’s rays

Mother: That depends upon His grace. A day later a devotee arrived. The disciple said to the Mother, “ Mother, it is this devotee who wrote to you that letter.” The Mother said, “ Is it so ? I see he is a good boy.” Then she said to the devotee, You see, it is the nature of water to flow downwards, but the sun’s rays lift it up towards the sky ; likewise it is the very nature of mind to go to lower things, to objects of enjoyment, but the grace of God can make the mind go towards higher objects.”
